When a creditor has obtained a money judgement (lawsuit) against a debtor, a garnishment is one way the creditor can collect on the judgement. The most common type of garnishment handled in Justice of the Peace Court is a wage garnishment.

 

A garnishment must be filed in the ward/district where the money judgement was awarded.
